Pirate's Guide to Freeport PDF Preview: The Serpent's Teeth

We've posted another PDF Preview from Pirate's Guide to Freeport. This excerpt from the book discusses The Serpent's Teeth, the island chain where Freeport is located. It includes tons of great information and a really cool map.

"Freeport does not exist in a vacuum. Life (and death) in the Freebooter's City is defined in large part by its location. Perched on the shattered remains of Valossa, the citizens of Freeport contend not only with each other for survival, but with the natural (and unnatural) hazards of life on the tips of the Serpent's Teeth. While Freeport is the only city in the Serpent's Teeth, it shares the islands with a variety of smaller towns and outposts, and the pirates and traders that sail the sea. And in the jungles and caves of the islands, beneath the waves, and in the ruins of the serpent empire, there are legends, treasures, and horrors beyond human understanding, waiting to be discovered--or unleashed."

The Pirate's Guide to Freeport will be available tomorrow in PDF format.

Let's Make That Free RPG Week!

This past Saturday we offered three free PDFs as part of Free RPG Day. We expected the giveaway to be popular, but the response was truly staggering. We had server problems throughout the day because so many gamers were trying to download the PDFs. People endured long waits, while some never got through at all. This was certainly not our intent, and we apologize for any frustration that may have resulted. But talk, as they say, is cheap. We have decided therefore to take Free RPG Day and turn it into Free RPG Week. We will not only be offering those three PDFs for free again, but also putting a bunch of other PDFs on sale. To top things off we'll also be debuting the long-awaited Pirate's Guide to Freeport this week.

Here's the plan for Free RPG Week:

Tuesday: The Mutants & Masterminds Beginner's Guide will be free once again for 24 hours. The following Mutants & Masterminds PDFs will also go on sale for the rest of the week: Mutants & Masterminds Second Edition for $15, Agents of Freedom for $10, and the Masterminds Manual for $13.50.

Wednesday: At long last the Pirate's Guide to Freeport will debut. The full price of the PDF is $19 but for this week we're offering it for only $17. The following Freeport PDFs will also go on sale for the rest of the week: Freeport Trilogy 5-Year Anniversary Edition for $12, Creatures of Freeport for $10, and Crisis in Freeport for $8.50.

Thursday: Bleeding Edge Adventure #5: Temple of the Death Goddess will be free once again for 24 hours. The following Bleeding Edge PDFs will also go on sale for the rest of the week: Mansion of Shadows, Beyond the Towers, Dirge of the Damned, and A Dreadful Dawn.

Friday: True20 Adventure Roleplaying will be free once again for 24 hours. The following PDFs will also go on sale for the rest of the week: True20 Bestiary for $12, True20 Companion for $10, and True20 Worlds of Adventure for $9.

Free RPG Week will last until Sunday and then all the sale items will revert to their usual prices. To make things better for everyone, (a) you won't have to register or log in to our store to get the PDFs, but rather just click one link and save to your hard drive; and (b) the files will be hosted elsewhere so your enjoyment and use of our sites won't be affected by all the downloading.

Happy gaming, everybody!

Mutants & Masterminds is #2!

According to the quarterly ICv2 market report on game sales, reported in the ICv2 Guide to Games #44, our own Mutants & Masterminds, aka The World's Greatest Superhero Roleplaying Game, is second only to the granddaddy of RPGs, D&D.

Between all the great products already available for M&M, and all the amazing products on the horizon, we agree that there's never been a better time to hop on the Mutants & Masterminds bandwagon.

Pirate's Guide to Freeport PDF Preview: Scurvytown

We have posted a PDF Preview of the Scurvytown chapter of Pirate's Guide to Freeport.

"If the stories told in far-flung ports about Freeport were true, visitors would be gutted like fish the moment they strode down the gangplank of an arriving ship. While newcomers quickly learn Freeport is far more than a collection of bloodthirsty pirates, one place fits the city's image like a glove: Scurvytown. This district is officially named the Freebooter's Quarter in documents, but no one off the boat less than a week uses that name. The decrepit condition, lawless population, and grinding poverty of the place earned it the nickname Scurvytown decades ago, and the name stuck."

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Wins the Grog d'Or!

Each year the GROG, or Guide du Roliste Galactique, chooses the best game, game line, or setting to honor with the Grog d'Or award, and for 2006 they have chosen Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay! The award was presented this past weekend at GenCon France in Paris. Naturally, we here at Green Ronin are quite proud of the work done by our own Rob Schwalb (design and development) and Hal Mangold (art direction and layout) and extend our heartfelt congratulations to WFRP publisher Black Industries on the win!
