Shadow Elves

Not sure if anyone here ever played the Facebook Dragon Age game, but if you did towards the 'end' of the story quests you ran into a group of Elves known as the Shadow Elves. I tried to search and find more information about them but came up empty. From what I gathered in the game they were just a clan that practiced blood magic with the use of tainted blood. But I honestly do not remember the details.

Can anyone shed more light on them?

I haven't played the Facebook game, but in the first novel, Loghain had a force of elven guerillas called the Night Elves. There wasn't much detail given, but I wonder if they're the same? Might just be a lore goof that the names aren't the same, or maybe they decided it was too Warcraft-y.
