Star Wars: Age of Rebellion playtest release

Postby newbiedm » Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:12 am

I've released a beta playtest of my AGE conversion of Star Wars, titled Age of Rebellion.
You can find it here:

Wow, this looks absolutely stunning! I'd pay for this. I really like your take on Jedi as a specialisation. I've only just taken up Dragon Age but I'm a big Star Wars fan and so far, no RPG has really gotten it completely right for me. You know what, as soon as my group has finished the Dalish Curse (which should be next week), I'll suggest playing your version of SW with them. Now all I need is an idea for an adventure.

Btw, are you planning on expanding the material to include NPCs from the prequels, Old Republic and the post-movies eras? Or do you want to focus on the Rebellion?

Thanks!
My favorite era is the rebellion one, so I'll probably keep it to that.
The game isnt done, i put this out there as a playtest to get some feedback, so play away and let me know. :)

Newbiedm,
I'm really enjoying checking out the playtest so far, but I did see one thing in initial read that I have a question about. The Lightsaber Style and Jedi Guardian specialization are identical until you unlock the Master rank. Is that intentional?

Ack! That's a mistake! I was intending to remove the lightsaber style as written and make that strictly a jedi thing. Thanks for catching it.

Pretty good so far. I have noticed a couple of omissions.

The Scoundrel does not list Force as a secondary ability.
The Soldier does not list WIllpower as a secondary ability.
The Soldier does not have starting equipment.

@jameson - Thanks for catching that. The document has been fixed.

I've also removed the Lightsaber Style talent, which was there as a talent from an older version of the document (it is now a specialization).

And I changed the "blaster style" talent to "Gunslinger" and it applies only to pistols, instead of pistols and rifles.

I won't be able to D/L the update document until tonight, but does that mean the only way to become proficient with a lightsabre is to take the Jedi Guardian spec?

No.
Any Of the three Jedi specializations grant you access to the lightsaber weapon group.
But to be really, really good with a lightsabre, one of the talents in particular should be your choice.
