Talents

Postby Knightwolf64 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 3:30 pm

In the DARPG I have a question about the design make-up? Was it by design or a oversight that not to many of the game talents are not in the book? Such as the Melee Archer Tree (Aim) found on Dragon Age Wiki site. If i were to create them as a base description would anyone mind me doing this? They would not be in the original game format?

So... those talents aren't going to be in the Book...
Not all of the PC game talents made their way into the Pen and Paper RPG...

You can, if you're a Game Master, creat your own talents, as I do.

But a lot of the PC talents were useless in the scope of P&P RPG anyway ...

After looking very carefully over the talents i can see your point very clear. This will take some time to carefully convert to DARPG standards, IF IF i can creativly conver them. However there is a document that i wish you to take a look at. This PDF is from the Savage Worlds rpg. It is called Exhalted Age. This person made Dragon age into Savage Worlds. I know the systems are completely diffrent but the quality of the Edges that the perosn made. The web site is: ]http://www.savageheroes.com/conversions/Savage%20Worlds%20-%20Exalted%20Age%20v1.07.pdf. If you could let me know how to post pdf file that would be great this. But this is where is was getting my ideas from about the diffrent talents in Dragon Age.

I'm downloading it.

I already have some files with talents, but they're in Portuguese.
I'll translate it to English and attach here, later.

Currently I'm doing a Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire) version for AGE system, with my few house rules, and a new system for Magic (which is lower than Dragon Age...)

It seems really good!
I'm studying this book and the Conan RPG books to make new talents and a Darker theme for magic.

You can hope in the next weeks, a lot of fresh new stuff is going to spring out of my head!

I guess when i come up with new stuff i will post it as well in the category that it belongs in such as Rouge or Mage and such. To see what we both agree on and to see what other people come up with as well.

I found it difficult to get a handle on converting magic for a Hyborian setting: I ended up using the improvised magic system posted on Dragon Age: Oracle here: http://dragonageoracle.com/2011/09/06/i ... c-revised/.

The first version of my mod is here: http://vaelorn.wordpress.com/2011/09/10 ... t-version/ . I'd be interested in any feedback you may have!

Oh, I know this system, and it's a very cool thing, with the right players.
But I'm making a magic system simpler, where spells are used like any other class-like power. You activate it, roll a test agains the target (if needed) and everything happens. But for this, I managed to do two things: magical components and "reallistic" darker spells. Nothing like a show of fireworks.

It's interesting to play this way with magic. This makes it seems more powerful than in high fantasy scenarios.
