First thoughts (It's up)

woot downloading now :) 28.3 mb... done

Like the bonus system for the backgrounds, that will make things very interesting and make even similar characters different.

Like the gaining level abilities, makes people really think about where to put there stats and planning. Not sure about the health during level up though, very very odd. that you start out with so much then it goes up a lot slower, have to try a battle but I'd be concerned that as you go up it doesn't seem like you can take more then a several levels earlier. Also starting health mage vs warrior... seems too small just looking at the base numbers to me. Again need to try out a battle

Woot, crossbow aren't as broken as then are in Origins, man they were overpowered in the game compared to bows. First look at the swords I'm not liking, damages just seem off specifically short sword vs long sword. 1d6+2 is barely weaker then 2d6, think it should be 1d6 vs 2d6 and with the str requirements, short sword seems slightly better then the long sword.

Dogs are covered, good very very happy about this.

Like the mana regen system, I have always like this type of mana regen system. Spell casting stunt system is sick, particularity like the Fast Casting, makes things very interesting and feel more like and epic character.

Dying rules are sick, and I am 100% adding PC rules to NPC. Make your party really think of the targets they hit first. Oh, and if you allow PvP watch who you make angry, they make Coup De Grace you during combat before the mage can heal you LOL.

No spot for Focuses on your character sheet? odd.

Art of Game mastering very good job, this will really help new GMs prepare for what they should expect from players.

After reading some of the NPCs and there damage looks similar to the characters damage or better I am very concerned about health during leveling now. It really looks like it may turn the game into a big grind of small battles rather then them getting tougher and bigger.

XP system is much easier for new GM, more advanced GMs will probably change this up though.

So little in the way of Magical items? hmmm guess I'll have to get creative.

For those that were arguing page count in an earlier thread, definitely not 400 pages, it is 133 pages including covers.

Maybe it's a deliberate attempt to stop their server crashing. From what I remember, the pdf for pathfinder crashed paizo's server when it came out first.

Oh they changed it to offer the PDF for free if you pre-order the box set. can those that ordered the pdf get a code to allow us to pre-order the box set for cheaper?

Yes the pre-order was not up and the PDF was 17.95, now the PDF is free with the pre-order like people were asking for.

How does one buy the PDF only as GR announced yesterday?

So If I preorder the box set, I can still get just the PDF?

I prefer to support my local game store for physical products and shipping costs from GR for a physical product would be high.

Edit: GR sent me to this page but it is showing as only "Coming Soon": http://www.greenronin.com/store/product/grr2801e.html

To clarify, Evan was still getting the pre-order deal sorted out this morning We hadn't announced anything but that didn't stop you guys from finding the PDF was live. :) Now everything is up and working right. You can buy either the PDF alone or pre-order the boxed set and get the PDF for free.

Hope you all enjoy it!

Sweet! Just pre-ordered my boxed set and downloaded the pdfs. Spent time reading the Players Guide and will read the GameMasters Guide tomorrow.

This may sound too eager of me but when will we be getting the additional support products promised in the back of Players Guide? :) Like the crib sheet, new character sheet and pre-generated characters? Can't wait to get stuck into my second foray at being a GM!

Thinking about a seasonally themed beginning, a celebration of Years end - probably at the mages tower since my Player likes his magics. Maybe some mischevious spirits are misbehaving and possessing the decorations :D Or a jolly old white bearded spirit is riding in on a slay pulled by white deer dolling out spiritual nasties to the unsuspecting!

pre-ordered, downloaded, and reading.

And now I want to know the same things the poster directly above me does.

This brings a lot of ideas into the old GM's head here.
