While creating a character I ran into this question which I hope you guys can help with. I chose to play a Dalish Elf Rogue. It says in the player handbook that the Rogue can become a novice in one of the following talents: Contacts, Scouting, or Thievery.
I chose "Scouting" and looked at the description for this talent. It says that you must first have the Dexterity(Stealth) focus.
The problem is that I dont have a (Stealth) focus. If I chose "Scouting" does this automatically GIVE me the Stealth focus?
OR..... do I have to pick something like Thievery ( which I meet the requirement of having 3 Dexterity already).
Please advise! Thanks guys!

Hey,
Nope, choosing Scouting would not give your character the Stealth Focus for free; you don't get something for nothing, as it were (even if the character is a thief).
According to Green Ronin a Requirement is, well, a requirement; if your character doesn't have it, you're out of luck until they change through advancement to meet it. So, in your character's case, yep, Thievery it is.

Also remember AGE classes are very broadly defined.
The Rogue is meant to cover more roles and archetypes than just the thief one. The way not all rogues are proficient in thievery is meant to be a positive, not a drawback!
