Holidays, Snowstorms, and Mail Orders

Due to severe weather in Seattle, mail order fulfillment is delayed. Green Ronin staff are off and our offices are closed from December 22th to January 7th for year-end holidays, however Nicole and Chris plan to stay on and continue packing out orders through December 24th, weather permitting. The Green Ronin holiday elves took the sleigh out for a couple of hours on December 20th to send packages on their merry way during the break between blizzards but we’re snowed in again as of December 21st. As always, we appreciate everyone’s support and patience. Happy Holidays, stay safe, stay warm, and we’ll see you in 2009!

Freeport Poster Map

Freeport Poster MapWhen we commissioned a color map of Freeport from Andy Law for Pirate’s Guide to Freeport, we received such an amazing piece of cartographic art that it was a shame not to be able to show it off any larger in the book. We’re pleased to have a solution, in the form of the Freeport Poster Map. This lovely, 28″ x 19″ poster map is perfect for hanging on the wall next to your gaming table, or rolling up and taking out whenever you need it.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GREEN RONIN ANNOUNCES 3RD ERA
Industry Leader to Keep Classic Titles Available Under New Brand
3rd EraDecember 9, 2008–SEATTLE, WA: Green Ronin Publishing announced today that it would keep its classic d20 System titles available under its new 3rd Era brand name. The process began this week with the re-release of six books in PDF format and will continue on a regular basis until all the titles are updated.
“The status of the old d20 logo is now unclear,” said Green Ronin President Chris Pramas, “so we created a new logo to replace it. This will keep PDFs of our back catalog available. We’re also going to offer Print on Demand editions through Lulu, so gamers who want hard copies of difficult to find products like the Book of Fiends will be able to get them.”
The first six 3rd Era books are Aasimar & Tiefling, Advanced Bestiary, Book of Fiends, Creatures of Freeport, Eternal Rome, and the Freeport Trilogy: 5-Year Anniversary Edition. PDFs of these titles are available now in the Green Ronin Online Store and print versions will be available from Lulu soon. 3rd Era books are compatible with the 3rd edition of the world’s most popular roleplaying game and its many offshoots and variants.

Reading the Skull and Crossbones

Freeport and Walk the Plank fan Philip Minchin from Australia has written and packaged up a free PDF, “Reading the Skull and Crossbones.” In it he presents a divination system from the City of Adventure, using the cards found in Walk the Plank.
And in case you haven’t noticed, now is the perfect time to pick up both Pirate’s Guide to Freeport and our family-friendly pirate card game Walk the Plank, since if you buy the book, you’ll get the card game too, for free! (Offer good only in our Green Ronin Online Store, until such time as the boss tells the webmaster the deal is over. Free card game presented as option during checkout if the print version of Pirate’s Guide to Freeport is present in cart.)
Also of note is our still-ongoing RPG Stimulus Package Sale, in which several Freeport books are still available at great prices.

A Holiday Update From Our President

With Christmas almost upon us, I thought this would be a good time to update you all on the status of various Green Ronin books. After the big push for the summer convention season, it is always a challenge to follow up with new material in the fall and this year proved no exception. We have just released the True20 Warrior’s Handbook, the third and final role book for the game. If you’ve been holding off on getting the Expert’s and Adept’s Handbooks, now is a great time to get the trilogy.
Freedom’s Most Wanted, the long-awaited new villain book for Mutants & Masterminds, is landing at our warehouse mid-month. Due to the logistics of getting out a new release at Christmas time, we’re going to debut it in January instead. The advanced copies of Freedom’s Most Wanted look great and we’re sure M&M fans will be pleased.
In other exciting Mutants & Masterminds news, the fourth printing of the game sold out in record time. We’re getting the fifth printing under way this week and that should put it back in stock towards the end of January. We have more than doubled the size of the fourth printing so we won’t have to do this again soon.
Also heading to print this week is the Green Ronin Character Record Folio. This takes our award-winning d20 System Character Record Folio and updates it for 4E. In addition to rebuilding the folio from scratch to reflect the new rules, we’ve also added pockets to the inside covers so you’ll have a convenient place to store handouts and campaign notes. The Green Ronin Character Record Folio also comes out January.
Lastly, I’m sure you’re all dying for an update on A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying. The good news is that the game is finished. The not as good news is that it will not be out in time for Christmas. We are still going through approvals and that is a long process. We are committed to releasing a game that truly captures the spirit and details of the Ice and Fire novels. We hope to make it happen early in 2009 but we won’t have concrete news until the game receives final approval and we send it to print. At that point we will make an announcement and gear up for the game’s debut. Winter is (still) coming!
Happy holidays from everyone here at Green Ronin. Stay tuned for more exciting news in the coming months. If you’ve been good gamers this year, I may even get to tell you about the new licensed game I’m designing before we ring in the New Year.
