Chris Pramas’ Green Ronin Publishing is a Seattle-based company known for its dedication to quality books and games. Founded in 2000, Green Ronin has won more awards for excellence and innovation than any other game company in the new millennium and took home the coveted ENnie Award for Best Publisher an unprecedented three years in a row. With great licenses such as Dragon Age and A Song of Ice and Fire, groundbreaking games like Mutants & Masterminds and Blue Rose, and a roster of top-flight designers and illustrators, Green Ronin Publishing is a leading light in the hobby game industry.
"In the past 10 years we’ve given gamers thousands of hours of fun, published well over a hundred books and won dozens of awards," said Pramas, Green Ronin president, "but we’ve never had a party! Well, this is our 10-year anniversary, and with the help of the fine folks at Dragon’s Lair, we’re going to change that."
Attending the anniversary party will be Pramas, Green Ronin Publishing founder and president and designer of the Dragon Age RPG, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition and Freeport: The City of Adventure. Other Green Ronin designers attending include Jon Leitheusser, a writer, editor, game designer, and developer who’s worked in every tier of the gaming industry and contributed to a number of tabletop, computer and role-playing games. He’s currently the Mutants & Masterminds and DC Adventures line developer for Green Ronin.
Jeff Tidball is a writer and game designer with many dozens of board, card, and role-playing game credits. He lives in Minnesota’s Twin Cities and writes and develops material for the Dragon Age RPG. Evan Sass is the co-designer of the Walk the Plank card game and has edited or proofread more than 50 game books, board games, and card games. He also creates and runs Green Ronin’s various Web sites.
Steve Kenson is lead designer for Green Ronin Publishing with design credits including Mutants & Masterminds, Freedom City, True20 Adventure Roleplaying, DC Adventures, and Blue Rose. Hal Mangold is the graphic, production, and art director for Green Ronin Publishing and runs Atomic Overmind Press (www.atomicovermind.com). He lives in the Metro D.C. area with far too many books, computers, and games and one rather cantankerous cat.

The Bellevue location, the company’s first franchised store, opened in May 2010. Company owner David Wheeler is actively seeking more franchisees, including for two other Seattle-area stores.

Dragon Age RPG Set 2 Open Playtest

As we announced earlier this month, we’re conducting an open playtest of the mechanics from Dragon Age RPG Set 2 in September and October, and it starts… Now!

Download the the full open playtest document, which includes full instructions about how to submit your playtest report, when you should send it, and all the rest. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and support!

Dragon Age Open Playtest: September 2010!

The Dragon Age RPG Set 1 was enthusiastically received. Old hands and new tabletop roleplayers leapt at the chance to tell exciting stories of their own in Thedas.

We at Green Ronin hoped to follow Set 1, which covers PC levels 1-5, with the speedy release of Set 2, containing rules for heroes of level 6-10. We’re sorry that Set 2 is not out yet, because we know that many Dragon Age players have hit level 5 and are anxiously waiting for the rules that will take them further.

If we could publish Set 2 tomorrow, we’d do it. Because we can’t, we’re going to do what we hope is the next best thing. In mid-September, we’re going to open a public beta test of most of the game-mechanical aspects of Set 2, including rules for advancing Player Characters through levels 6-10.

We hope to kill two birds with one stone, giving the Dragon Age RPG‘s fans the chance to resume their campaigns right away while also strengthening the Set 2 rules with the whole Internet’s playtest notes.

When they’re ready, the free beta playtest materials will be available at greenronin.com. Anyone who wants to download them will be able to. More details about how to submit your playtest reports—if you choose to do so—will be posted along with the playtest package.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the fans who’ve adventured in Thedas since Set 1 came out, who’ve told us how much they like the game, and who’ve patiently awaited Set 2.

We’ll see you on the forums!
