Freeport: The City of Adventure for the Pathfinder RPG

Just in case you didn’t see this graphic Hal put together for the Kickstarter page, there you go. A visual representation of just what kind of massive tome you’ll get if you pledge at the Scurvytown Special backer level or greater. ($80 or more.)

However, the real bonuses kick in at just $20 more, the Freeport Pirate backer level. For your $100 pledge you’ll get:

  • A print and PDF copy of Freeport: The City of Adventure.
  • You also get PDFs of the Fiery Dragon Counter Collection Gold, Freeport Trilogy: 5-Year Anniversary Edition (3.5 rules), Fiery Dragon’s Summoned Monster Counter Collection, Dark Wings Over Freeport(3.5 rules), the Player’s Guide to Freeport, and the poster map of the city.
  • Bonus: You also get a degenerate serpentman miniature!
  • Bonus 2: You get all six parts of the Return to Freeport PDF adventure series as they release in 2014!
  • Bonus 3: You get a PDF of the forthcoming Dark Deeds in Freeport adventure from our friends at Kobold Press.
  • Bonus 4: You get two paper ship model PDFs from Fat Dragon Games, the medieval cog and The Sea Dragon.
  • Bonus 5: You get a book plate with art by John Kovalic of Dork Tower fame and signed by Freeport creator Chris Pramas.
  • Bonus 6: You get PDFs of not only the Pirate’s Guide to Freeport, but also ALL the rules companions: Castles & Crusades, FATE, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, 3rd Era, and True20.

That, me hearties, is a lot o’ loot! As of this post, the Kickstarter is at $47,942. Will you be the one to bump it over $48,000? Or over $50,000? Let’s find out, shall we?

UPDATE:
And, we’re funded at $50,088! You guys are so awesome. Now, who’s up for helping us get that shiny new Wayne Reynolds cover?

International TableTop Day!

International TableTop Day logoChris is heading down to LA this morning to celebrate International TableTop Day tomorrow with Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton. Chris will take part in the live streaming event and you can watch him play games at 4:30 pm PST on TableTopDay.com.

Since not all of us get to fly around and play games with celebrity geeks, (we’re not jealous of the boss, really), we’ve finished up a little something for the rest of us to play on International TableTop Day. Downloading now from a server near you, it’s Duty Unto Death, the Dragon Age RPG adventure that Chris ran on TableTop for Wil Wheaton, Chris Hardwick, Kevin Sussman, and Sam Witwer.

Duty Unto Death is a complete free adventure, including player handouts and the same 3rd level pre-generated Grey Warden recruits that the aforementioned quartet adventured with in Ferelden. Just add Dragon Age Set 1 and you’re ready to go! (You can get the PDF version right now if you don’t have it.)

But if you’re strapped for cash or want to try before you buy this International TableTop Day weekend (if you have a Friendly Local Game Store, please visit them tomorrow!), we’ve got some more free resources ready for you to download and play:

Dragon Age

We have a Dragon Age Quickstart PDF that includes enough rules to play, pre-generated characters, and a short adventure. Another option is the adventure "A Bann Too Many" in the Dragon Age GM’s Kit. You should also, of course, remember to grab Duty Unto Death if you haven’t already.

A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying (SIFRP)

Game of Thrones fans will enjoy the SIFRP Quickstart. It too has the basic rules of play, pre-generated characters, and a short adventure. The adventure The Wedding Knight from the SIFRP Narrator’s Kit is also a good choice.

DC Adventures

If you are looking for a good short demo, check out the DC Adventures Quickstart: Batman vs. Bane. It’s a punch up between these famous adversaries and an easy introduction to the Mutants & Masterminds rules that power DC Adventures.

Mutants & Masterminds

For a taste of Mutants & Masterminds itself, you can download the adventure The Silver Storm, the Prologue to our Emerald City Knights adventure series. You can also grab the Sentinels, a ready to go super team.

Freeport

As we’ve mentioned a couple times, we are running a Kickstarter for a new edition of Freeport: The City of Adventure. (Just $3,700 to go as of this post!) That book is for the Pathfinder rules, but if you want to run the module that started it all, you can get the True20 version of Death of Freeport for free and the download the True Quickstart rules!

Please enjoy International Tabletop Day, play some Green Ronin games with someone new, and may your dice always roll in your favor!

Freeport Kickstarter: Why $50,000? Why a Deluxe Book?

With five days left in which you can become a backer or up your existing pledge, Chris has posted Update #13, in which he explains what Freeport means to him, and his decisions in setting up our Freeport Pathfinder Kickstarter.

Mutants & Masterminds Gadget Guide: Archaic Weapons

Mutants & Masterminds Gadget Guide: Archaic WeaponsEven in the modern world of superheroes, archaic weapons like swords, hammers, and bows remain common. Some of these weapons are enhanced by magic or technological gadgetry, while others rely solely on the tremendous skill of their wielders. In either case, old school weapons are primary tools for many heroes and villains and this Gadget Guide looks at them in detail.

(Real-Life) Tales of Freeport

The bosses are away in Vegas for the GAMA Trade Show this week, but Chris left us with a true tale of Freeport, from a fun campaign he ran for some of us longer ago than I care to think about. (Apparently it’s all fun, because time is flying!)

While they’re away, we would love it if you would share your real-life Tales of Freeport, in our forum or a different forum, on your blog, or on Tumblr or Facebook, linked to the Kickstarter page [http://kck.st/Z3Gu3l]. Or, you can place your story in the comments of the Kickstarter campaign. (Of course, to do that you’ll have to be a backer first. Go ahead! That’s fun, too!)

So c’mon, matey! Tell us your Tales of Freeport!

Freeport Kickstarter Updates Galore!

Freeport Logo

Two new updates for the Freeport Kickstarter today!

Freeport: The City of Adventure is shaping up to have at least 150 pages of new material. We’ve heard from a lot of folks who want more frosting on their Freeport cake, though, and who are we to argue?

We are pleased to announce Return to Freeport, a brand new adventure series that will be released in six parts over 2014. The format will be similar to our Mutants & Masterminds adventure series, Emerald City Knights. Every other month starting in February, we’ll release a new chapter of Return to Freeport in PDF format. Each will be about 20 pages and retail for $3.99. The first chapter will be for 3rd level characters and it will scale up from there as the PCs gain xp.

If you back the Kickstarter for $30 or more, you will get all six chapters of Return to Freeport for FREE!

Confirmed authors right now are Steve Kenson (Mutants & Masterminds, Pathfinder Game Mastery Guide), Stephen Radney-Macfarland (Pathfinder Advanced Player’s Guide and Ultimate Combat), and Chris Pramas (Dragon Age RPG, Pathfinder Chronicles: Guide to the River Kingdoms). We will announce the remaining three as they come on board.

In response to your commentary, we’ve also added three new reward levels. We’ve also opened up 5 more slots of the Barroom Hero, so hurry if you want to name your own bar in Freeport!

The new reward levels are:

Pledge $80 or more
